A new award for two years to build resilience in typhoon prone communities through disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, and shelter support

The Catholic Relief Services - United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (CRS-USCCB) received a two-year, $2 million Project Grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the agency's Foreign Assistance for Programs Overseas (CFDA 98.001) program. The June 1, 2023 award will fund the Bicol Resilience in Coastal Communities (BRICC) program to build resilience in typhoon-prone communities in the Philippines through disaster risk reduction, livelihoods support, and shelter assistance through May 31, 2025. Specifically, CRS-USCCB will engage stakeholders at the provincial, municipal, and community levels in Albay and Catanduanes provinces to improve government and community capacity to plan for and respond to natural hazards. This includes training government agencies and accompanying them to develop critical technical capacities and emergency response systems, while also supporting community engagement and household preparedness efforts. The program directly targets 24,000 individuals across 20 barangays and 5 municipalities.
