The U.S. Coast Guard awarded a $125,000 Project Grant to the Safe States Alliance under the Boating Safety Financial Assistance program (CFDA 97.012) to build on recently published technical solutions and surveillance recommendations for improving data gathering from multiple sources on recreational boating-related drownings and near-drownings. The award has a performance period from July 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. Through this grant, the Safe States Alliance will provide data collection, analysis, and program implementation services to enhance data on boating accidents, injuries, and fatalities, with the goal of ultimately reducing incidents on domestic waterways. The Boating Safety Financial Assistance program funds a range of projects designed to enhance recreational boating safety through education, outreach, and specialized research initiatives.
