The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) was awarded a $623,701 project grant from the Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration under the Commercial Driver's License Program Implementation Grant (CFDA 20.232) program. The grant period runs from August 1, 2021 through September 30, 2025. Under this award, AAMVA will provide support to the FMCSA-funded activities of its Test Maintenance Subcommittee and International Driver Examiner Certification Executive Board related to commercial driver's license testing systems, examiner training, and auditing. This includes assisting with continuous updates to certifications and training curricula for commercial driver examiners and knowledge examiners, as well as updates to all commercial driver's license testing materials. AAMVA will also support the subcommittees' work to update the auditing training program and discuss potential skills test modifications with FMCSA. A portion of the grant in the amount of $100,000 was awarded as a sub-grant to Highway Safety Services, LLC to further support these efforts.
