The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) received a $1.8 million project grant award from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance High Priority Activities Grants and Cooperative Agreements program (CFDA 20.237) to support commercial motor vehicle safety initiatives from September 2018 through September 2022. The funding will enrich MoDOT's programs to carry out high-priority activities that enhance commercial motor vehicle safety through partnerships with state and local governments to augment inspection and enforcement efforts. Key services to be delivered include supporting enforcement of size and weight limitations, reducing commercial motor vehicle crashes, and conducting safety audits to mitigate regulatory noncompliance. The four-year award will allow MoDOT to strengthen existing efforts to improve safety on Missouri's roadways through focused initiatives targeting commercial motor carriers.
