City of south SAN francisco action plan development

The City of South San Francisco received a $400,000 Project Grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program (CFDA 20.939), awarded on September 15, 2025, with a completion date of September 15, 2028. This award supports the development of a comprehensive roadway safety action plan designed to prevent fatalities and serious injuries on local roads and streets. The funding will enable the city to conduct planning and design activities, engage stakeholders, analyze safety data, and develop targeted strategies to benefit all road users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists.

Under the SS4A program, the City of South San Francisco will leverage this award to advance regional transportation safety initiatives consistent with the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act mandate. The action plan development funded through this grant will serve as a foundation for identifying and implementing infrastructure improvements and behavioral safety strategies tailored to the community's specific roadway safety needs. As a planning-phase award, this grant represents a critical investment in South San Francisco's commitment to enhancing public safety and supporting the broader federal initiative to reduce transportation-related deaths and serious injuries nationwide.
