The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded a $2.5 million Project Grant to the North Carolina Department of Military & Veterans Affairs on July 29, 2021 under the Grants to States for Construction of State Home Facilities (CFDA 64.005) federal grant program.
The funding will support the construction of an isolation wing, air purification system, and visitor management system at a state veterans home in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Grants to States program aims to help states acquire, construct, expand, remodel or alter facilities providing domiciliary, nursing home or hospital care for veterans. This particular award will enhance the Raleigh home's ability to care for veterans during public health emergencies by establishing isolated areas for sick residents and modernizing airflow and visitor intake systems.
