About this award

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded Adams County, Ohio a Project Grant of $138,149.47 under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) on September 5, 2025, to support infrastructure improvements at Winchester Municipal Airport. This Phase 1 design grant funds the reconstruction and rehabilitation of critical airport infrastructure systems, including reseal and resurfacing of 3,762 feet of Runway 5/23 pavement, reconstruction of an existing culvert to address drainage and erosion control, replacement of an airport rotating beacon that has reached the end of its useful life, and reconstruction of the Precision Approach Path Indicator System for Runway 5/23 at the runway threshold. The project is scheduled for completion by September 4, 2029.

The grant reflects the FAA's strategic investment in maintaining safe and efficient airport systems through modernization of aging infrastructure at non-primary airports. By funding the design phase of these critical facility improvements, the award enables Adams County to develop comprehensive project plans for subsequent construction phases that will extend the operational life of essential airport systems and enhance safety for civil aviation operations in the region.
