About this award

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the City of North Vernon a Project Grant of $615,789.47 on September 15, 2025, under the Airport Improvement Program (CFDA 20.106) to rehabilitate critical airport infrastructure at North Vernon Municipal Airport in North Vernon, Indiana. Phase 1 of this four-year project (scheduled for completion by September 14, 2029) encompasses design and construction activities for taxiway and taxilane pavement rehabilitation, including 1,044 feet of Taxiway A, 239 feet of Taxiway A1, 3,852 feet of five existing taxilanes, and 12,600 square yards of terminal apron pavement. These improvements are intended to maintain structural integrity of existing pavements, extend their useful life, and minimize foreign object debris to support safe and efficient airport operations.

The grant funds Phase 1 implementation of a comprehensive rehabilitation program addressing pavement infrastructure that has reached or is approaching the end of its service life. The total scope includes rehabilitation of 1,160 feet of Taxiway A, 265 feet of Taxiway A1, 4,280 feet of taxilane pavements, and 14,000 square yards of terminal apron pavement. By investing in this infrastructure maintenance, the project supports the FAA's strategic objectives of safety and operational excellence while sustaining the airport's role in the regional transportation system and civil aeronautics network.
