Cambium Carbon PBC received a $175,830 Project Grant from the USDA Forest Service's Wood Utilization Assistance program (CFDA 10.674), awarded September 17, 2025, with completion targeted for May 31, 2027. The funding supports testing and analysis activities designed to unlock the commercial market potential for U.S.-grown European larch in mass timber products. This work will establish the technical foundation necessary to increase manufacturing capacity and support active forest management practices.
The Wood Innovations program, administered through the Forest Service's Eastern Region, provides grants to strengthen domestic wood products markets and expand commercial opportunities in emerging wood applications such as mass timber construction. By validating the performance characteristics and manufacturing feasibility of European larch for mass timber applications, this project addresses the program's focus on developing new markets that support sustainable forest management and expanded utilization of wood resources.
