The Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service awarded UC Hastings College of the Law, a non-profit educational institution, a $154,000 Low Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) grant under CFDA 21.008. The grant will fund the operation of a clinical program at UC Hastings where students represent low-income taxpayers and non-native English speakers in controversies with the IRS. The grant recipients will provide tax representation services, educational activities on tax topics, and advocacy on tax issues impacting the intended beneficiaries, who have incomes up to 250% of the federal poverty guidelines. In limited circumstances, UC Hastings may utilize sub-recipients to help deliver key elements of the program. The grant period runs from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026.
