The award, effective June 26, 2024 through June 25, 2029, supports a range of critical wildland fire management and prevention activities across the Northeastern United States and adjacent Canadian provinces. Key services delivered through this funding include operating regional fire dispatch centers, developing innovative fire management techniques, delivering leadership and incident management training, conducting fire risk mapping, and supporting coordinated wildfire preparedness and response efforts among member states and provinces. The award also funds prescribed fire management, public outreach on fire prevention, invasive species control, and providing financial and technical assistance to state forestry agencies.
