This $210,124 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation's Geosciences Program (CFDA 47.050) will support the collaborative deployment and operation of the Ham Radio Science Citizen Investigation (HamSci) Personal Space Weather Station (PSWS) network. The funding will enable the installation of 30 standardized PSWS stations capable of observing high-frequency Doppler shifts, amateur radio transmissions, very low-frequency signals, and geomagnetic field changes. This enhanced network will allow researchers to investigate localized and continental-scale space weather phenomena, including impacts from solar flares, geomagnetic storms, and traveling ionospheric disturbances. The project, which runs from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028, is a collaboration between the professional scientific community and the amateur radio community, engaging over 730,000 licensed US amateur radio operators. The project will also support undergraduate student participation and involve a minority-serving institution and an emerging academic institution.
