Meadowlark organics will expand its onfarm cleaning and handling capabilities facilitating market pathways for certified organic grain growers throughout the upper midwest

This project will enhance the existing meadowlark community mill a vertical integration facility that encompasses storage cleaning milling packaging and distribution of grain and flour. The core of the project involves the purchase and installation of a gravity table optical sorter and connecting bucket elevator within the granary to improve the precision and capacity for cleaning a wider range of grains including wheat RYE corn buckwheat and dry beans. The anticipated outcome is to increase the volume of cleaned grain available currently totaling approximately 1000 acres of production plus an additional 150000 of sourced grain annually and approximately 13000 pounds of flour produced weekly. This will directly benefit local farmers processors and other stakeholders seeking markets for their diverse crops and grains. By strengthening partnerships with regional organic farmers meadowlark organics aims to increase the availability of locally grown organic grain across the upper midwest supporting sustainable farming practices and promoting crop rotation. The enhanced grain cleaning equipment will serve a broader range of stakeholders and contribute to the overall growth of the organic grain sector in the region.
