The National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Integrative Activities (CFDA 47.083) awarded the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) a $170,881 Project Grant to acquire a single crystal X-ray diffractometer. This highly specialized scientific instrument supports a wide range of multidisciplinary research, including luminescent materials, bacterial communication, chemical ecology, and medicinal chemistry. The diffractometer's dual copper and molybdenum sources enable structural characterization of small molecules, macromolecules, and metal-organic frameworks, furthering the work of 16 investigators across 5 institutions. UNR will also provide educational access to undergraduate and high school students, teaching them about X-ray crystallography. This award reflects NSF's mission to enhance research capabilities and broaden participation in STEM fields. No sub-awards are planned under this grant, which has a period of performance from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2026.
