This Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Office of Integrative Activities (CFDA 47.083) provides $1,097,251 to the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to acquire a Nexsa G2 X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) surface analysis system. This state-of-the-art equipment will significantly enhance multi-disciplinary research and education capabilities at the university, its affiliated research centers, and industry partners across the state and region. The Nexsa G2 XPS system enables advanced characterization of organic, inorganic, and biomaterials, including analysis of processes at surfaces and interfaces, with applications spanning fields such as energy storage, advanced manufacturing, and biomedical engineering. The award will also support hands-on training and educational programs for graduate, undergraduate, and precollege students, including those from local tribal colleges and universities.
