This $264,849 National Science Foundation project grant supports research at George Mason University towards understanding and addressing problems arising from multiple Internet of Things platforms coexisting in the same physical space. The objectives are to systematically describe, categorize and measure "multi-platform coexistence" problems, and design and build effective solutions. Specifically, the university researchers will uncover, measure and formalize unique issues caused by multiple IoT platforms interacting in a single environment. They will then propose novel techniques, algorithms and systems to resolve such problems and enable harmonious coexistence. As part of the NSF's Computer and Information Science and Engineering program, this two-year award also aims to integrate findings into curriculum development and promote participation from underrepresented groups in IoT research. Data, code and documentation will be publicly shared through maintenance of an online repository.
