J & R Logging, Inc. was awarded a $1,673,450 project grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service to improve forest health and fire resilience in California. The grant was awarded under the Wood Utilization Assistance program administered by the Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region. Funding will support the use of winch assist and hydraulic grapple yarding to more efficiently remove timber, reducing wildfire fuels and improving forest management practices. By extending the reach and productivity of logging equipment, this project aims to enhance forest stewardship and protect communities from wildfire risk. The two year project commenced in August 2022 and is scheduled for completion in February 2024.
