This $350,000 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Computer and Information Science and Engineering program (CFDA 47.070) will fund the development of an open-source, multiscale, application-agnostic platform (OPEN-MAP) for heterogeneous system-in-package co-design. Led by Purdue University, the consortium aims to break barriers across applications, design domains, and abstraction levels in modeling, simulation, optimization, and design through OPEN-MAP. The platform will include multiscale multiphysics modeling and analysis integrated with various accuracy levels, machine learning-assisted techniques, and uncertainty quantification. It will also provide a suite of multiphysics-informed design and optimization tools to automate co-design from intent to fabrication. Subawards of $150,000 each will support work at the University of California, San Diego, the University of Central Florida, the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Dartmouth College to identify critical barriers to co-design and demonstrate co-design advantages using OPEN-MAP capabilities. This award furthers NSF's mission to advance computing research through investigator-initiated projects.
