Description

Our rsvp proposed projects align directly with the goals of the srcs program. The population being served is at risk elderly and disabled residing in santa rosa county. An estimated 140 rsvp volunteers will serve. Of this number, 80 rsvp volunteers will be placed in outcome assignments. The project goals are to use community-based agencies and faith-based organizations to promote healthy behaviors that will assist elders and adults with disabilities to live independently in the setting of their choice, by offering a comprehensive array of services and resources. Some of their activities will include: helping with socialization programs, transportation, food distribution, and promoting exercise programs. We are committed to making more opportunities available to rsvp volunteers through our disaster preparedness, response, and recovery programs. With our last two presidential declared disasters, rsvp volunteers registered 15,428 elderly and disabled residents for disaster assistance. Rsvp reported a total of 23,845 volunteer hours. Based on this data, rsvp continues to expand its disaster operation programs. The primary focus is healthy futures, with a strong focus on disaster services. At the end of the three-year grant community members will have increased their knowledge of healthy lifestyle choices and say they have stronger social ties and support. The community will have improved knowledge of disaster preparedness and resources.
