Arrow Farm Meats received a $200,000 project grant award from the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service under the Meat and Poultry Inspection Readiness Grants – Supplemental Funding program (CFDA 10.180). The funding will support improvements to Arrow Farm Meats' 1600 square foot meat processing facility in Rock City, Illinois to help the company obtain federal inspection approval and expand operations into nearby states. Specifically, the grant funds will be used to construct an inspector office, add sanitation stations for employees, install a walk-in freezer and back-up generator, and acquire a label/scale machine with HACCP printer and vacuum stuffer. These infrastructure upgrades aim to enhance food safety, prevent temperature and humidity issues as production increases, and ensure strict compliance with federal inspection standards for uniformity, quality and cross-contamination avoidance. The period of performance is September 30, 2021 through September 29, 2024.
