Mchenry County College (MCC) received a $108,130 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service under the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program (FMLFPP) to complete a feasibility study for establishing a food hub model. MCC's Center for Agrarian Learning operates a greenhouse and farm as part of its community education programming and seeks to aggregate products from on-campus production and local area farms to create a year-round sales channel for small to medium producers. Funding will support MCC in creating a diverse planning team of local farmers, distributors, and other stakeholders to guide a study of food hub operating models. The award period is from September 30, 2021 to September 29, 2023.
