This National Science Foundation award of $404,957 provides funding for the University of North Texas to operate a Research Experience for Undergraduates Site focused on Testing and Machine Learning for Context-Driven Systems from March 2022 through February 2025. Through this Computer and Information Science and Engineering program grant, the university will engage 10 undergraduate students for 10-week research internships exploring new software testing techniques for context-driven systems such as mobile apps. Students and faculty mentors will develop and empirically evaluate strategies using reinforcement learning and combinatorial methods to improve the reliability and security of systems responding to continuous streams of user inputs and environmental context changes. In addition to gaining basic research skills to prepare for graduate study, the diverse cohort of participants recruited from underrepresented groups will further the NSF's mission of broadening participation in computing fields through this research experience opportunity.
