The University of Pittsburgh received a $400,001 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation Division of Computer and Network Systems on October 1, 2021 to support research activities through September 30, 2024. The grant funds collaborative research on in-memory processing enhanced by laterally accessing racetrack inspired cores under the Computer and Information Science and Engineering program (CFDA 47.070). This program supports investigator-initiated research and education across computing, communications, and information science and engineering fields, as well as development of cyberinfrastructure to enable discovery and innovation. Specifically, the University of Pittsburgh will conduct research on novel computing architectures that leverage racetrack memory technologies to improve in-memory processing capabilities. Insights from this work have the potential to inform future computing systems design. All research and education activities will be carried out in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania through September 2024.
