The National Science Foundation Division of Polar Programs awarded a $252,372 two-year Project Grant to The Trustees of Columbia University in New York, New York to support the research project "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: A FOSSIL ECOSYSTEM UNDER THE ICE: DECIPHERING THE GLACIAL AND VEGETATION HISTORY OF NORTHWEST GREENLAND USING LONG-LOST CAMP CENTURY BASAL SEDIMENT." The grant is funded through the Polar Programs (CFDA 47.078) federal grant program, which supports basic research in the polar regions. Under this award, Columbia University researchers will conduct field and laboratory work to analyze sediment samples from Camp Century, Greenland in order to decipher the glacial and vegetation history of northwest Greenland.
