The University of Notre Dame received a $483,634 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation Division of Earth Sciences on July 1, 2021 to fund the INUNDATION SIGNATURES ON ROCKY COASTLINES (ISROC) project through June 30, 2026.
The ISROC project will strengthen understanding of the integrated Earth system through basic research on atmospheric, earth, and ocean sciences supported by the NSF's Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050). Specifically, the University of Notre Dame will conduct research to discern signatures of inundation on rocky coastlines, expanding fundamental knowledge of coastal processes and interactions between the ocean, atmosphere and land. The five-year award will allow researchers to study how waves, tides and storms impact rocky shorelines over multiple timescales. Insights gained from this work could enhance understanding and modeling of coastal change.
