Oregon State University was awarded a $587,463 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation Division of Polar Programs under the Polar Programs federal grant program (CFDA 47.078). The grant will fund the EHR-POLAR DCL: AUTHENTIC RESEARCH THROUGH COLLABORATIVE LEARNING (ARC-LEARN): UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH EXPERIENCES IN DATA RICH ARCTIC SCIENCE project from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024.

The project aims to strengthen fundamental knowledge and understanding of the polar regions through expansion of undergraduate research experiences in Arctic science. Specifically, the University will provide opportunities for students to engage in authentic collaborative research using extensive Arctic datasets, with a focus on interdisciplinary learning across engineering, geoscience and social science disciplines relevant to the Arctic. This hands-on experiential approach is intended to encourage more students to pursue advanced education and careers in polar research fields.
