Case Western Reserve University will receive $554,395 from the National Science Foundation Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure under the Computer and Information Science and Engineering federal grant program (CFDA 47.070) to develop the ELEMENTS: Crowdsourced Materials Data Engine for Unpublished XRD Results project. This three-year project grant, awarded August 1, 2021, will support the creation of a searchable database and data analytics platform to aggregate and analyze unpublished X-ray diffraction results on materials from academic labs worldwide. By facilitating access to these unpublished experimental findings, this "materials data engine" seeks to advance discovery and innovation in computational materials design as envisioned under the NSF's Computer and Information Science and Engineering program. All work will be conducted in Cleveland, Ohio from August 2021 through July 2024.
