Description

Awards issued prior to january 20, 2025, were funded under previous administrations and may not reflect the priorities and policies of the current administration.** the goal of this project is to prepare students at uconn waterbury and uconn stamford for careers in food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences (fanh). The project focuses on helping students gain the skills, experience, and training needed to succeed in today's workforce, especially in areas related to food systems, human health, nutrition, agriculture, and natural resources. Undergraduate students at both campuses will benefit from this program. The project has three main objectives:create a scholarship program to help students enroll, stay on track, and graduate on time in fanh-related fields.provide hands-on learning opportunities, such as internships and applied projects, that give students real-world experience and prepare them for careers while also supporting community and workforce needs.offer academic, research, and career development programs that help students build professional skills, stay engaged in their studies, and prepare for employment in fanh careers. These objectives support USDA priorities to train and prepare the next generation of workers for fanh-related careers. Through strong support from the university, partnerships with community and industry organizations, and new courses focused on fanh career pathways, and professional development, the program will create about 150 internship opportunities and support threestudent cohorts. Overall, the project will increase student awareness of fanh and USDA career options, improve career readiness, strengthen recruitment and retention in fanh fields, and build a strong pipeline of trained graduates ready to enter the fanh workforce.
