This Project Grant awarded by the Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture under the 1890 Institution Capacity Building Grants program (CFDA 10.216) will allow Kentucky State University (KSU), a historically black and 1890 land grant university, to offer $505,263.16 in scholarships to students pursuing agriculture-related degrees. The program aims to increase the number of students attaining baccalaureate degrees in food and agricultural sciences at KSU and support their intention to pursue careers in these fields. KSU will provide students with a range of practicums, internships, and professional development opportunities, as well as faculty and student mentorship, to build a skilled food and agricultural systems workforce. A detailed recruitment, selection, and evaluation plan, with the help of an advisory committee, will track student progress and long-term career outcomes.
