The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health awarded $9,136,450 to American G.I. Forum, National Veterans Outreach Program, Incorporated on October 1, 2025, under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033), a Project Grant.
NVOP will provide outreach services, case management, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, and assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits to very low-income veteran families residing in permanent housing, homeless and scheduled to transition to permanent housing within a specified period, or seeking housing after exiting permanent housing. The recipient may also provide temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies. Optional services include legal assistance and financial management services.
The award covers performance in Texas for the period October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The SSVF program prioritizes rapid rehousing of homeless veterans and homelessness prevention, using a veteran-centered housing-with-supportive-services model designed to help veterans secure and retain permanent rental housing without preconditions while facilitating access to health care, employment, legal services, and other supports to maintain housing stability and improve quality of life.
