The program aims to educate a diverse group of MS students in the principles of animal reproduction and technical competencies required for careers in animal production. Measurable objectives include graduating six MS fellows, two from groups traditionally underrepresented in agriculture. Fellows will develop research programs on contemporary issues in reproductive biotechnology and applied reproduction through experiential learning opportunities. They will also participate in internships with leading companies involved in reproductive biotechnology or research teams at the University of Sao Paulo that implement reproductive technology research programs on commercial farms. The funding will support 10 faculty members and new courses focused on interdisciplinary education in reproduction, animal science, cell biology, genetics and biotechnology.
