Description
We support and facilitate education of stream teams and the general public in order to build an appreciation and knowledge of missouri stream resources. We support stewardship projects to improve the health of missouri's rivers and streams. We advocate for clean water, provide information to missouri citizens, and serve as a united voice for healthy missouri waters. The proposed vista project aligns with the cncs focus area of environmental stewardship. The vista project will seek to 1.) increase the capacity of five stream team associations to reach out and serve low-income youth by expanding the capacity of their environmental education programs and 2.) expand the capacity of stream teams united to expand the work in water training to low-income youth with the goal of providing hands-on stem education and career development opportunities in the field of water/wastewater operation. The project expects to benefit hundreds of low-income youth, as well as to provide for projects that benefit the long-term economic vitality of the entire community of the service areas. Six vista members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities over the course of three years such as 1.) increasing the capacity of educational programs to target students from low-income schools, 2.) identifying donors, sponsors, grants, and partners for building the capacity of water education programs, and 3.) developing the capacity of stream teams united to expand the work in water training to low-income youth/young adults with hands-on stem education and career development in the field of water operator certification.
