Description

The wimberly center vista project aligns with the economic opportunity and healthy futures focus areas. The vista project will seek to build the organizational capacity of the organizations within the wimberly center for community development and the center as a whole as well as leading toward improved outcomes for these organizations beneficiaries regarding reduced poverty and improved nutritional and health outcomes, and expects to benefit the approximately 8,000 low and middle-income clients served at the wimberly center for community development annually. Three vista members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities related to fundraising, marketing, volunteer program development, grant attainment, data analysis and program evaluation, as well as capacity building training over the course of three years. The winder housing authority is located within the wimberly center for community development – the project site for the wimberly center vista project. The wimberly center for community development (wccd) was established in the abandoned winder barrow middle school, in the glenwood neighborhood, as a result of both the 2013 city of winder's urban redevelopment plan and efforts by the winder housing authority. The wccd now houses eleven non-profits under a model that allows for rent free office space and the sharing of utility and other overhead costs. The wccd has become a catalyst for change in the surrounding community and a hub for services supporting anti-poverty outcomes.
