Description

We help the young develop their promise by providing innovative programming in early childhood education and extended day and year opportunities. We help families and residents in under-resourced neighborhoods organize and create effective approaches to community safety, youth enrichment, and food access. The proposed vista project aligns with the education and healthy futures focus areas. The vista project will seek to engage 200 volunteers and ten community organizations, and expects to benefit 400 children and 600 adults. Six vista members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as creating a listening campaign to ensure the engagement of low income residents in community development, developing new fiscal and human resources for promise programming, creating education activities centered on healthy food access and choices; and creating literacy rich extended learning activities in after-school and summer programs. We expect these activities to occur over the three years of the project.
