OLD COLONY ELDER SERVICES (OCES) SERVES AS THE SPONSOR AGENCY FOR THE RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (RSVP) SENIOR CORPS GRANT (PROJECT). THE PROJECT BECAME A SPONSORED PROGRAM OF OCES ON APRIL 1, 2015. OCES IS DESIGNATED AS ONE OF 26 PRIVATE NON-PROFIT AGING SERVICES ACCESS POINTS (ASAPS) IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS AND OUR MISSION IS TO SUPPORT THE INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY OF ELDERS AND INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES WITH DISABILITIES BY PROVIDING ESSENTIAL INFORMATION AND SERVICES THAT PROMOTE HEALTHY AND SAFE LIVING. OCES' DYNAMIC PROGRAMMING, 44-YEAR HISTORY AND EXPERIENCE, AS WELL AS OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT PEOPLE OF ALL AGES, CONTINUES TO PLACE US IN AN EXCELLENT POSITION TO MANAGE THIS PROJECT. THE PROJECT NAME WAS CHANGED FROM MAYFLOWER RSVP TO RSVP OF PLYMOUTH COUNTY IN THE CURRENT 3 YEAR GRANT PERIOD, TO BETTER REFLECT THE FULL RSVP SERVICE AREA. OCES AND THE RSVP OF PLYMOUTH COUNTY ARE WELL KNOWN AND WELL RESPECTED RESOURCES IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND THROUGHOUT THE REGION. WE ARE REQUESTING THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE (CNCS) FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $126,132 (ANNUAL FEDERAL GRANT) WHICH WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $54,057 (NON-FEDERAL RESOURCES) FOR A TOTAL BUDGET OF $180,189. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. OTHER AREAS OF FOCUS INCLUDE EDUCATION, VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND OTHER COMMUNITY PRIORITIES. AN ESTIMATED 300 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE AT ANY GIVEN TIME OVER THE COURSE OF THE 3 YEAR GRANT; OF THIS NUMBER, 127 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE DELIVERING MEALS TO ELDERS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES, PROVIDING MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION, PROVIDING FINANCIAL LITERACY EDUCATION, SUPPORTING VETERANS AND ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY, AND TUTORING STUDENTS. AT THE END OF THE THREE YEAR GRANT, THE ANTICIPATED OUTCOME INCLUDES INDIVIDUALS INCREASED SOCIALIZATION AND QUALITY OF LIFE, INCREASED FOOD SECURITY, INCREASED FINANCIAL LITERACY AND INCREASED TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS TO ATTEND MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS. ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WILL INCREASE THEIR READING LEVELS/SKILLS AND LOCAL AGENCIES WILL INCREASE THEIR CAPACITY TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY THROUGH INCREASED SUPPORT OF PROGRAM INFRASTRUCTURE THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM.
