The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) awarded Family & Community Services, Inc. a $2,250,826 Project Grant under the AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP, CFDA 94.002) to address root causes of poverty through senior volunteer service from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2024. The grantee will engage an estimated 736 unduplicated RSVP volunteers in 15 Ohio counties to serve in economic opportunity, education, and healthy futures initiatives. Volunteers will provide financial literacy training, job skills workshops, mentoring support in underserved schools, transportation assistance, healthcare access, food security services, and help with affordable housing development. The CNCS investment of $518,338 will be supplemented with $222,145 in local matching funds to support a cost per volunteer of $705. The RSVP program aims to reduce poverty by connecting senior volunteers with opportunity and health-focused community services.
