About this award
The City of Springfield, Ohio has been awarded a $949,104 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance (CFDA 16.585 Treatment Court Discretionary Grant Program) to enhance the operational capacity of the Clark County Municipal Court's Adult Drug Court program. The grant funding will allow the drug court to scale up its existing services, provide critical support services, and expand evidence-based court operations over a four-year period from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2027. Key objectives include increasing the drug court's participant capacity from 15 to 25 individuals per year, enhancing drug and alcohol testing, expanding the multidisciplinary team, and improving monitoring and evaluation. The grant is expected to serve approximately 80 participants in total over the four-year grant cycle.

Participants in the drug court program will start in the program post-adjudication. At this time the program is designed to serve 15 participants per year. The clark county municipal court intends of increasing the proposed number of participants to 25 per year, if the grant funds are awarded. Therefore, a proposed number of 80 participants would receive services from the grant over the four year grant cycle. The target population is any clark county resident, age 18 or over, that is convicted of misdemeanors that are directly or indirectly a result of their substance abuse. Participants must have a substance abuse disorder diagnosis and a treatment case plan. Mat services will be available to any participants meeting criteria for the use of them.
