The Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Community Oriented Policing Program awarded $174,991 to the City of Gainesville on October 1, 2025, under the Public Safety Partnership and Community Policing Grants program (CFDA 16.710) to formally integrate the Gainesville Police Department's Crime Analysis Unit into an overtime directed patrol strategy informed by hot-spot identification. The Crime Analysis Unit will also participate in the Gainesville Violence Intervention Effort, an intelligence-led policing initiative designed to target and prevent violent crime. The project includes funding to develop after-action reports documenting outcomes, lessons learned, and operational effectiveness. All funds cover related overtime costs.
