The waltham police department will use FY24 microgrants funding to engage in a pioneering initiative aimed at forging stronger bonds of trust and legitimacy within its vibrant and diverse community

Leveraging the innovative "dedication to community" (D2C) approach, the department will host intimate, collaborative sessions involving both law enforcement officers and community members. These engagements, meticulously facilitated by the seasoned team from D2C, are designed to foster open dialogue, mutual understanding, and CO-created solutions to community issues. By engaging in these transformative interactions, the waltham police department aspires to not only heal and strengthen community relations but also to model a proactive and inclusive approach to community policing that acknowledges the rich tapestry of cultures, experiences, and perspectives within waltham. Through this initiative, the department aims to establish a new paradigm of policing characterized by empathy, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving, thereby enhancing the well-being and safety of all residents.
