Description

The salem police department will use FY24 microgrants funding to rent community spaces in areas throughout the city and hire additional instructors to allow for a wider variety of class options in support of their procedural justice training program. The goal of the program is to strengthen public trust and confidence in the department. Current procedural classes are held at the police department, generally during the work week. However, some community members have suggested a more neutral setting would be beneficial to increase participation from communities that have had a historically strained relationship with the police.
