Description

Those members include the superintendent, building principals, school safety specialist, sros, facilities and technology staff. During these in-house assessments, our teams have determined that the items in this grant application are of the highest priority needs of the school district to secure our schools and prevent violence. Emergency operations plan or district security plan is developed, monitored and revised by our school safety committee which includes our school resource officers. This plan includes our school safety drill and security procedures, and a requirement that all drills be reported and a brief description of what occurred during the drill is provided to the superintendent. School safety drills are outlined in the school security plan or emergency operations plan. This document outlines drill procedures, the frequency of drills, and how the training will occur. Drills are reported using a reporting form and an after-action brief if there were areas needing improvement. These security projects have been in need beyond the last 5 years. The current systems in place are not efficient for meeting proper security measures in a multitude of scenarios. The median household income is $59,926, per capita income $27,508, poverty above 10% since 1990, and the county ranks low at 19/21 countries in the state for health outcomes. This project includes an integrated security solution for electronic access control systems, high-definition video surveillance, panic buttons that immediately notify police of a problem, upgraded PD mass communication through schools and an integrated solution with the telephone interface for a more comprehensive building communication system for everyday use and emergencies. These systems will significantly increase security and communications to improve our staff perceptions of safety at work. Our mission and vision are to create the safest school environments for our community, staff and students while engaging students to be lifelong learners. Rooted in history, the gloucester city school district embraces our unique traditions and growing community as we inspire each student to become an independent thinker, lifelong learner, and passionate, responsible member of society who strives to be the best version of themself. We accomplish this mission in a fun, safe, and caring environment. The strategic goals of the board of education are included in action steps to improve our hardware and software solutions that help US provide a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors. This project aligns with our strategic goals, mission, and vision. The board of education is committed to this project and to this grant application, locating the necessary matching funds, and committing to the long-term future of utilizing this equipment efficiently and effectively for all. This grant application has a substantial financial impact on the security and safety needs of our school district. We need federal assistance to make our schools safe for all.
