The caledonia police department will use lemhwa grant funds to provide personnel, sworn and civilians, with regular access to mental health and wellness resources in a variety of forms

The program will consist of: mental health wellness checkups, regular officer ride alongs, mental health wellness and suicide prevention training, critical incident debriefing, and peer support counseling. The first aspect is that officers will be provided with one-hour annual mental health wellness checkups with a licensed psychologist that will be mandatory. A second aspect of the program will be that the same licensed psychologist will provide quarterly on-site visits with officers in the form of an officer ride along so they can continue to build rapport and become more comfortable with the psychologist and recognize them as part of the team. The third aspect of the program will be training. Officers will be provided with reputable law enforcement focused training that they can attend with their families to take a holistic approach to help understand what officers deal with on a daily basis. A fourth aspect of the program will be critical incident debriefing as needed. A fifth aspect of the program will be the creation of a peer support program.
