This $4.8 million Project Grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) supports the H2theFuture Coalition led by the Greater New Orleans Development Foundation. The Coalition will boost New Orleans' clean energy sector by transitioning the regional hydrogen energy sector away from fossil fuel-based hydrogen production toward green hydrogen produced from renewable sources. Coalition projects include supporting a central campus connecting the hydrogen cluster ecosystem, coordinating programming and testbeds to improve hydrogen cost competitiveness, a development center for hydrogen-fueled ships, and a hydrogen fueling barge. Once implemented, this investment through the EDA's Economic Adjustment Assistance program will help develop and strengthen regional industry clusters while embracing economic equity, creating good-paying jobs, and enhancing U.S. competitiveness globally. The grant performance period is set for Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with Louisiana State University serving as a sub-awardee to aid delivery of Coalition projects and services.
