The Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded a $4.8 million Project Grant to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette under the Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) program. The grant supports the H2theFuture Coalition led by the Greater New Orleans Development Foundation to boost the clean energy sector in New Orleans through transitioning the regional hydrogen energy sector. Coalition projects funded under the award include supporting a central campus to connect the hydrogen cluster ecosystem, coordinating programming and testbeds to improve hydrogen cost competitiveness, developing a center for hydrogen-fueled ships, and a hydrogen fueling barge. The investment aims to develop and strengthen regional industry clusters in clean energy and hydrogen fuels while creating good-paying jobs and enhancing U.S. competitiveness globally. The EDA EAA program provides technical, planning, infrastructure and public works assistance to regions experiencing adverse economic changes.
