About this award
This $1.58 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) project grant to the Fairfield Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) will fund infrastructure improvements to facilitate job creation and private investment in a new industrial park in Fairfield, Texas. Under the EDA's Investments for Public Works and Economic Development Facilities program (CFDA 11.300), which provides catalytic investments for critical infrastructure and facilities development, the grant funds will support road improvements to Old Mexia-Fairfield Road to help diversify Fairfield's economy in the wake of a 2018 coal mine and power plant closure. The project is expected to leverage $9 million in private investment and create an estimated 14 new jobs. Regional planning by the Heart of Texas Council of Governments helped enable this infrastructure project award to support private business growth and hiring in the region.
