DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE TO THE ORGANIZED VILLAGE OF GRAYLING TO BUILD ITS CAPACITY TO ADMINISTER AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM ON INDIAN LANDS. ACTIVITIES:THE ORGANIZED VILLAGE OF GRAYLING WILL COMPLETE (1) ADMINISTRATIVE/PROGRAMMATIC CAPACITY BUILDING, INCLUDING COMPLETING ANNUAL GRANT REQUIREMENTS, ATTENDING TRAININGS, AND UPDATING THE STAFF MANUAL; (2) SOLID WASTE AND RECYCLING PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, INCLUDING COLLECTING AND SHIPPING OUT RECYCLING AND OTHER SOLID WASTE (BACKHAUL), LANDFILL CLEANUP, PURCHASING SUPPLIES, AND UPDATING THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN; (3) AIR QUALITY/HEALTHY HOMES CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT, INCLUDING DEVELOPING A CLEAR PLAN FOR IMPROVING INDOOR AIR QUALITY IN HOMES WORKING WITH EPA AND ITS PARTNERS, AS WELL AS PURCHASING, DISTRIBUTING, AND EDUCATING COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON AIR MATTERS TOOLKITS AND FOLLOWING UP A MONTH OR TWO LATER TO SEE IF PEOPLE ARE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS OR NEED ANY HELP; AND (4) ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND OUTREACH, INCLUDING CONDUCTING ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOL, SUCH AS MAKING GREEN CLEANERS TO SHARE WITH THE COMMUNITY, AND SHARING RESOURCES WITH THE SCIENCE TEACHER, CREATING A QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER AND OTHER OUTREACH MATERIALS, ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES FOR EARTH DAY, INVOLVING STUDENTS IN THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL OBSERVER (LEO) NETWORK, AND SHARING INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:DELIVERABLES: QUARTERLY PROGRESS REPORTS, TRIP REPORTS, SF-425, PHOTOS, QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER, INVENTORY OF GOODS PREPARED DRAINED OF FREON OUTCOMES: EFFECTIVE GRANTS MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION, EXPLORING NEW BACKHAUL METHODS AND COLLECTION AND RECYCLE PROGRAMS/PROCESSES IMPROVING AIR QUALITY, AND IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY'S UNDERSTANDING OF ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES WILL IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN HEALTH IN GRAYLING.
