Description
The purpose of this american rescue plan funded environmental justice small grant project is to provide education focused at reducing fear, hesitancy, and barriers preventing people from being vaccinated for covid-19. The scope of the project includes outreach, education, monitoring, participant assistance, milestones, and reporting. This project is in accordance with CAA 103(b)(3): people with moderate-to-severe or uncontrolled asthma are more likely to be hospitalized from covid-19. Air pollution may contribute to asthma. By addressing air pollution in CAA 103(b)(3) projects, the chances of severe illness from covid-19 are reduced. Activities: project activities to be performed include targeting the homeless population in snohomish county, WA, conducting outreach, street canvasing, and community talk events. This project also provides education and hygiene kits for mitigating covid-19 effects related to the clean air act. Project activities provide transportation to and from vaccination sites and incorporate participants' stories in education/outreach materials and workshop sessions. Outcomes: the goal and anticipated outcomes of this project include increased learning about covid-19 and environmental justice issues such that members of the homeless population will become vaccinated against the coronavirus. Other outcomes include building partnerships, increasing participation in learning opportunities and the use of personal protective equipment, as well as increased vaccination rate of homeless residents. IT is expected that this project will help to decrease the spread of covid-19, and hospital admissions of homeless residents due to covid-19. Direct beneficiaries of this project are homeless and low-income residents of snohomish county. Subrecipient: no subawards are included in this assistance agreement.
