DESCRIPTION: THIS ACTION APPROVES AN AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $24,945 TO THE COLLEGE OF THE FLORIDA KEYS. THIS GRANT WILL FUND THE RECIPIENT'S EFFORTS TO COLLECT WATER SAMPLES SHIP CANALS FROM SOUTH FLORIDA CORAL REEFS DURING COVID 19 PANDEMIC. ACTIVITIES: OUTCOMES WILL INCLUDE WATER QUALITY MONITORING IN KEY WEST HARBOR AND OUTPUTS WILL INCLUDE WATER QUALITY DATA, ANALYSIS, AND RESULTS TO DETERMINE IMPACTS TO WATER QUALITY FROM HEAVY SHIP USAGE WITHIN THE HARBOR. OUTCOMES: DELIVERABLES INCLUDE WATER QUALITY DATA, DISCUSSING RESULTS, FUTURE DECISION MAKING, AND FINAL REPORT. THE WATER SAMPLES WILL BE TESTED FOR BACTERIOLOGICAL WATER QUALITY TO DETERMINE WATER QUALITY IMPACTS OF CORALS IN SHIPPING CANALS. THE CITIZENS IN THIS STATE WILL DIRECTLY BENEFIT FROM THIS PROJECT.
