The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) received a $1.14 million Project Grant award from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5's Geographic Programs - Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (CFDA 66.469) program. The award will support two projects delivering critical habitat restoration in Wisconsin waterways from July 1, 2021 to March 31, 2025.

Specifically, WDNR will replace an aging culvert on Little Balsam Creek to improve fish passage and open 5.07 miles of habitat. Additionally, WDNR will conduct initial planning and design for habitat restoration at the Tank Farm Marsh site, with $50,000 in sub-award funding provided to the City of Green Bay for planning and design activities. Upon completion, the projects will increase stream and wildlife habitat resilience in areas of concern, while supporting the EPA program's mission to restore and maintain the integrity of the Great Lakes Basin Ecosystem.
