Description

The goal of the proposed work is to explore three possible mechanisms for producing such variability and to assess their relative importance and contributions. Global dust storms (GDS) have a huge impact on mars's weather and climate. Yet the exact causes of GDS initiation what determines onset time and location and why they occur in only some years remain unknown. A better understanding and model representation of GDS activity would result in better simulations of surface conditions during a GDS improved confidence in paleo-mars modeling and potentially the ability to forecast GDS.
